Meet the blue self storage team

Hugo has an excellent track record and strong pedigree in cuteness and customer charm. Part of Hugo’s role is to oversee and improve standards in our Canine Division after a few paw performances. Hugo also has a softer side, he loves a prank. His bark is worse than his bite. Outside of work he enjoys treats, belly rubs and watching his favourite TV show Crufts.

Rhi is always on hand to support the team and customers alike. With great people skills, a can-do attitude and a hunger for things to get done yesterday Rhi has been instrumental in our recent success. Rhi has risen through the ranks and knows the business inside out, Rhi’s personal development has resulted in the business retaining and benefitting from a highly performing individual. Don’t be fooled by her pint-sized demeanour, with a direct approach and striving for perfection Rhi packs a punch. Be prepared for the odd Rhi-ism – Jackie Long Legs (aka Daddy Long Legs). 🕷

Meg is the driving force and creative genius behind our social media. While she’s most often found behind the camera, her natural flair and infectious energy mean we make sure she steps in front of the lens whenever possible. Meg is the one who keeps the team on their toes—there’s always an exciting, outside-the-box idea she’s rallying everyone to bring to life. Calm, organised, and approachable, she has an in-depth knowledge of our sites and processes. When she’s not crafting captivating content, Meg is our go-to for creating and updating procedures and keeping the office running smoothly. Oh, and did we mention? Meg is the biggest dog lover you’ll ever meet!

Sharon has been an integral part of the blue self storage family for over 30 years – a true loyalist! When she first joined, the site housed just 57 caravans. Today, that number has grown to nearly 2,000, and Sharon has been at the heart of that incredible journey. Sharon is known for her dedication, and ability to juggle tasks to get the job done. But she’s not just about storage – Sharon also leads our charitable initiatives, helping us support many wonderful causes close to her heart. Around here, we know Sharon as the ‘Caravan Queen’, but if you’re lucky enough to have a chat with her, she’ll likely share her other great passion: horses. From riding to caring for them, there’s nothing Sharon hasn’t done to support and celebrate her four-legged friends. Sharon’s loyalty, hard work, and unwavering enthusiasm make her an irreplaceable part of our team – and a friendly face for all our customers.

More affectionately known as Bernie, Bernie has worked within the group for around 30+ years. Originally from a manufacturing background and then document storage, Bernie’s wealth of experience and ‘can-do’ attitude has proved invaluable. Bernie has the unique ability to build an instant rapport with customers who seem to tell her the most intimate personal things. You may see Bernie wandering around the caravan parks, if so please say hi. You will definitely not see Bernie in the kitchen making tea and coffee! 🫖❌

Martin joined us from the leisure industry where he acquired a wealth of customer service experience. Mild mannered with a dry sense of humour, Martin is always at hand to support colleagues and customers. Having called ‘House’ on his Bingo Hall career, Martin knows a thing or two about numbers and customers, now a seasoned storage expert Martin’s knowledge will be invaluable as we aim to reach 8 sites in 2025. Or should that be Garden Gate in One Score / Duck and Dive (bingo lingo)!?. Outside of work Martin’s enjoys spending time with family and the outdoors. If you want an interested fact, Martin is your man!

Issy 2 is our latest blue recruit, having cut her wings with Emirates as part of their exceptional cabin crew division, Issy really epitomises exceptional customer service. Blessed with brains and a magnetic personality, nothing is ever too much trouble. Always the first to volunteer and help out her colleagues. We’re really lucky to have such a great team player join team blue. We’re loving the daily Issy-isms and her youthfulness outlook. It’s brought a much needed energy to the team and business.

A big blue welcome to Courtney who recently joined the team after a very strong list of candidates. We were hugely impressed with Courtney’s calming demure and thorough answers. Having worked in the NHS for several years, Courtney has a proven track record working in a high pressurised environment. Courtney truly understands the importance of customer service and is the perfect fit to our growing team. With a sparkling personality and a love of animals and music, we really look forward to seeing Courtney blossom into a storage star! ⭐

Isabel or more affectionately known as Izzy signals a monumental step forward for blue as we create our designated Sales & Marketing team. Blessed with youth, creativity and a radiant personality, Izzy will bring energy, ideas and campaigns in house. With a Masters in design and a lust for life, Izzy is the perfect fit. When Izzy rocked up to the interview, the stars were aligned, it was always going to happen. A match made in heaven! Outside of marketing & the world of storage, Izzy pretends to like Prince (this bit is an inside joke, don’t ask!) and baking. Watch this space for creative content with the undeniable Izzy stamp.

As Accounts Manager, Roz is the driving force behind the accounts team, always pushing for improvements and keeping things running smoothly. With over 17 years at Blue, she’s got the business knowledge to answer just about any question and plays a key role in linking the accounts and operations teams. But Roz isn’t all about balancing books and spreadsheets—she’s also a bit of a gym enthusiast! You’ll often see her doing laps around the site, so if you happen to cross paths, don’t be shy—give her a wave (just don’t expect her to stop for too long, she’s probably on her second lap)!

James joined Blue a year and a half ago and wasted no time proving that no spreadsheet is safe from his sharp skills. Known for his calm demeanour and knack for solving problems, James is the person you turn to when you need to get things sorted. But don’t be fooled by his Zen like exterior as underneath that calm surface lies a fierce darts rival (he and Ben regularly face off in epic showdowns). When he’s not crunching numbers or aiming for bullseyes, James is part of blue’s comedy duo on socials, keeping us entertained and leaving us wondering if he’s secretly a budding actor in disguise. Watch this space!

Josh joins blue self storage with a strong academic background in Finance and a Masters in Materials Engineering from Swansea University, bringing a sharp and analytical mindset to the team. Drawn to the business by its welcoming culture, Josh knew from the interview stage that it was somewhere he could see himself growing and developing. With a great work ethic and a solid understanding of technology, Josh is already helping to streamline processes and keep things running efficiently behind the scenes. He’s particularly excited about the opportunity to learn, develop his skills and apply himself in a completely new area. Outside of work, Josh isn’t afraid of a challenge. His first ever hike, completely untrained, was Snowdon… and he made it to the top ⛰️

Beccy previously worked for our parent company Resource however with blue’s ambitious growth plans we needed someone with the financial acumen to ensure we grow sustainably and sensibly. Beccy fits that role and much more. Another great addition to team blue. Generally mild mannered and easy going but don’t be fooled, Beccy has a gritty determination, focus and no nonsense approach which will benefit the business and management. Outside of spreadsheets and bean counting, Beccy is a devoted mother and family person who loves animals and music 🎵 PS – don’t spell her name wrong!! It’s B-E-C-C-Y!

Kath brings a wealth of account management experience and a fresh pair of eyes to our finance team. She knows credit control isn’t just about numbers, it’s about people and building strong relationships. Since joining, she’s hit the ground running with great ideas, a can-do attitude, and an energy level that might require a second coffee! A natural chatterbox (you’ve been warned – once she’s got you on the phone, you’re not getting off easily), Kath has the knack for turning even the trickiest payment conversations into friendly, feel-good chats. We’re thrilled to have her on board, keeping things upbeat, efficient, and just a little bit louder than before!

Stephen joined our security team following 30 years as a police officer, completing various roles including the Dog and Mounted Section in South Wales Police. Stephen heads up our in house security team, consisting of 18 guards and 6 dogs. On a day to day basis, Stephen’s team deal with the security of all sites, including patrols and CCTV monitoring. Our customers’ possessions are in safe hands with Stephen and his team.

A big warm welcome to our new handyman. Ian has a vast amount of experience, having worked in the telecommunications industry for the past 30 years, Ian knows a few or two about maintenance. A mild mannered softly spoken gentleman, Ian is always on hand to help the team and customers. Outside of the world of storage, Ian can be seen enjoying a beer or two with friends at his beloved St Albans RFC.

Peter has a wealth of experience fitting windows having managed a window company for 30 years. We ‘looked through’ his lack of storage experience (see what we did there) and with some adjustments here and there, we locked him into a contract he couldn’t refuse. His transition has been pane-less. A hard working member of the team, always on time and always a smile on his face. Rumour has it, on his day, Peter wasn’t a bad footballer. We eagerly await his debut for team blue.

Dean brings a wealth of experience from the construction and housing sectors, but it’s his knack for thinking outside the box that truly makes him stand out. 📦 As Operations Director, he’s all about shaking things up, finding creative solutions, and making sure the company is always one step ahead and never boring 💡. With a passion for exceptional customer experiences and a drive to do things differently, Dean leads with energy, vision, and a focus on sustainability. Known affectionately as “Decasso” 🎨 (a playful nod to his love of art and painting), Dean brings a touch of creativity and a little extra flair to everything we do. From championing green initiatives to delivering bold ideas, Dean ensures the business doesn’t just grow, it stands out.

Often referred to as the geek amongst us, Jamie’s technical knowledge has helped drive the business to new heights. Overseeing key projects such as our online booking system and numerous automations Jamie’s ability to blend process and people is what sets us apart. Like Rhi, Jamie has grown with the business, formerly from an accounts background, his broad knowledge and experience will be needed in 2026 as we continue our expansion plans. Outside of work Jamie is known to frequent Brother Thai (a lot) and we suspect an avid trainspotter and anorak wearer although that’s TBC. 🤓

Chris drives our business forward through strategy and ambitious growth. Our ongoing expansion is due, in large part, to Chris’ vision of a unique, enhanced provision of storage across the UK. His commercial acumen and management of our great team means blue self storage will be gearing up for busy 2026 and beyond. Chris also represents Independent Container operators as a non-executive director of the SSA (Self Storage Association). Outside of the exciting world of storage, Chris’ passions are Liverpool FC and spreadsheets. Please don’t ask Chris if he’s watched any cult classic films, the answer will be a firm NO!
