We’re proud to announce that blue self storage has hit a target of raising £20,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.
In 10 years, we reached our goal of raising £20,000 for prostate cancer awareness and research. The donations were set up by the late Nick Williams, founder of the Resource Group, having gone through treatment for prostate cancer himself.
Dean Daly, Operations Director at blue self storage, said:
“Prostate cancer is a huge health concern affecting many men locally and nationally, and we really want to play our part in combating this disease. We feel companies like ours have a duty to support local communities and this is one way that we can do that. We believe in the power of giving back, and our commitment to supporting prostate cancer awareness and research reflects our core values.
Our sadly departed founder Nick Williams established our tradition of supporting causes that will have a meaningful impact on the community. It is an honour to continue his legacy of philanthropy.”
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men worldwide, with millions of new cases diagnosed each year. In August 2023 Prostate Cancer UK estimated that in the UK alone, more than 52,000 men on average are diagnosed with prostate cancer annually – that’s 144 men every day. Every 45 minutes one man dies from prostate cancer, that’s more than 12,000 men every year! These statistics highlight the importance of raising awareness and funds to combat this disease.
Despite its prevalence, prostate cancer research in the UK remains underfunded. Increased funding is crucial for advancing our understanding of the disease, improving early detection methods, and developing more effective treatments.
Our fundraising efforts aim to address this gap and make a meaningful impact in the fight against prostate cancer. Every pound raised brings us one step closer to better outcomes for those affected by this disease.
