  1. Two new promotions for Cardiff self storage team

Comments Off on Two new promotions for Cardiff self storage team

Our fantastic team has been working incredibly hard throughout what’s been a challenging 18 months for us all, individually and collectively as a business.

COVID has brought varying degrees of pressure on each and every one of our team – as a self storage business however, we have continued to work together to achieve successes and improve customer experiences in ways we would never have thought possible in March last year.

As a result of our continued growth, along with our ambitious desire to further expand the business into new areas, strengthening our internal structures has become paramount.

To that end, we’re very pleased to announce two team members’ promotions…

    Jamie

Having taken ownership of blue self storage’s online systems, along with driving efficiency through the business using modern technology, Jamie Thomas is now Technical Manager.

As a ‘smart storage solution’ provider, our continued advancement in automated systems and new technologies is essential. Jamie has demonstrated his ability in this area and we know he will continue to implement the changes required to keep us at the forefront of the industry.

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity to enhance our customer experience through continuous design & delivery of lean & intelligent solutions.”

    – Jamie

Rhiannon, Storage Coordinator at blue self storage in Cardiff

    Rhiannon

Having experienced unprecedented (yes, it’s that word again!) customer levels this year, the need for an organised self storage team with robust processes is vital to ensure that our customers continue to experience the high standards that you have come to expect.

In order to ensure this remains possible during our next stage of growth, Rhiannon Berry is now Storage Team Leader. Rhiannon’s leadership skills have become apparent as we have grown the storage team.

From adding new sites to on-boarding (another buzz word!) new members of the team, Rhiannon’s attributes and efforts have ensured smooth change management with minimal disruption – and we know Rhiannon will continue to deliver as we grow.

“I’m really grateful for being recognised and being given this opportunity. I’m looking forward to continuing to work together, developing myself and the team in driving the business forward. I feel we’re on the cusp of something special at blue self storage and love being part of the journey!”

    – Rhiannon

A record year of growth for blue self storage

The contribution of every single team member allowed us to expand blue self storage to include a brand new Cardiff storage site in Llanishen and a Newcastle storage site in Tyneside during 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Thanks to their support, we’ve also been able to invest in new technologies to make the customer experience even better.

We now have QR code entry and exit systems at our Llanishen site, allowing us to maintain high security standards while reducing customer waiting times. There’s also a new phase of technology coming soon to blue self storage – more news on that soon!

“I want to thank and recognise each and every one of our collective team’s contributions to our recent accomplishments, and for their continuous diligence in ensuring our customers have the best storage experience possible.

“I feel we currently have the strongest teams that we’ve ever had. We have created a workforce that is a joy to be a part of, something that wouldn’t be possible without everyone’s effort and commitment. These new promotions are key to our business growth plan and we’re excited to enter the next phase of taking storage into the stratosphere with the best team possible.”

    – Chris Bryan, Managing Director of blue self storage

  3. We’re supporting Cerebral Palsy Cymru with an entire year of free storage

Comments Off on We’re supporting Cerebral Palsy Cymru with an entire year of free storage

We’re thrilled to announce that we’re supporting local children’s charity Cerebral Palsy Cymru with an entire year of free storage to hold all their donations!

In June 2020, our brand new storage facility in Llanishen’s Cardiff Business Park officially opened – and we’re delighted to announce that we are offering Cerebral Palsy Cymru a whole FREE year of storage.

Donations are vital to the charity’s four recently re-opened charity shops in raising funds to make a difference to children in Wales living with cerebral palsy. Their shops are based in Llanishen, Cathays, Talbot Green and Barry. With the need now greater than ever, it’s vital that they can accept as many donations as possible, with no stress over where to store them.

    About Cerebral Palsy Cymru

Cerebral Palsy Cymru is Wales’ leading charity for children and families living with cerebral palsy in Wales. The charity was founded by a group of families in 1992.

Their specialist team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists work together combining their skills, with the aim of helping each child to reach their potential.

Their family support service offers a listening ear, advice and support to families often trying to cope with an uncertain future ahead.

Why we’re partnering with this fantastic charity

With their mission to improve the quality of life of all children in Wales living with cerebral palsy, we love what Cerebral Palsy Cymru brings to local Cardiff families and those throughout Wales.

We may be a storage company, but we are not just any storage company; we know the value of taking care of the things and people that are important to us!

  5. Ask the experts: Our top tips for maximising space in storage units

Comments Off on Ask the experts: Our top tips for maximising space in storage units

We’re sharing our top tips for storage units & how to maximise the space inside – brought to you by our very own expert team.

With over 70 years’ experience of self storage within the team, we’ve seen our fair share of storage woes & mishapsthat’s why we’re sharing our collective knowledge to help you get the best out of storage!

Stay tuned for our future instalments covering caravan storage, boat storage, moving home and more – but for this edition, we’re talking all about our top tips for maximising space in storage units.

    Take it away, team!

Rhiannon, Storage Coordinator at blue self storage in CardiffHi, I’m Rhiannon.

We all cover a little bit of everything at blue self storage, but my speciality is storage units.

I’m sharing 8 ideas that I think will really help you maximise your storage space, inspired by the most frequently-asked questions I’ve had from customers over the years.

    Starting with…

#1 – When filling your unit, start on the outside, work inwards, and leave an isle to locate items easily

Positioning your items in this way means you’ll leave your items in easy reach, rather than stacking them all on top of each other at the back.

#2 – Keep your most frequently used items at the front of your storage unit; this will allow you to easily locate them next time

Following on from my first point – there’s nothing worse than realising you’ve left your toolbox hidden away under everything else!

#3 – Identify your heaviest or fullest boxes, and put these with your bulky items

That way, you can tackle all the heavy things in one go, should you need to vacate your unit or move things around.

Don’t know where to get boxes? We have all the packaging materials for storage you’ll ever need, including boxes from £1.25, marker pens, bubble wrap and loads more.

#4 – Whether it’s a hammer, screwdriver, or a box knife, leave some tools in your storage unit

This will be a lifesaver when it comes to assembling, disassembling to transport or to open a box to reveal its contents.

Cheap self storage in Cardiff - blue self storage

#5 – Use shelving to help create additional space

Shelving allows you to stack boxes safely and take advantage of the height of your storage unit. If you try to stack too many boxes on top of each other, the bottom ones will crumple under the weight.

We supply purpose-built container racking from just £7.50p.c.m – so if you need it, we’ve got it!

#6 – You can save room in your storage unit by storing books and CDs inside the fridge

Just leave the fridge door wedged open for circulation. Bonus tip: use empty trash bins to store garden tools such as shovels and hoses.

#7 – Defrost fridges and freezers thoroughly before storing them to avoid the risk of water damage

Large appliances need care before placing in storage. Tie doors up for the move, although you should leave them slightly ajar once in storage to stop condensation forming and to help ward off bad odours. Drain washing machines before storing them and tie down hoses etc.

#8 – Once your unit is filled, make a drawing that shows the various areas of your items, such as toys, clothes, bedroom furniture, kitchen goods etc

It doesn’t need to win any Ordnance Survey awards – it just needs to help you easily locate every item in the future.

I hope you enjoyed my advice guide for maximising your storage unit space! This is Rhiannon, signing off… 🤓
