Planning a move to Bristol? You’re in for a treat!
This amazing city has it all – lively nights out, leafy parks, quirky independent shops and a welcoming community feel. It’s no surprise Bristol is often named one of the UK’s best places to live. Moving, though, can be a bit of a headache – packing, paperwork, and all those little jobs that soon pile up…
The good news is, with a bit of prep (and a hand from us, your storage neighbours!), you’ll be settled in and exploring your new neighbourhood before you know it.

Get to know your new city
Bristol has a flavour for everyone:
- Clifton – charming Georgian terraces, leafy streets, and the iconic Suspension Bridge views.
- Stokes Croft – the creative heart of the city, brimming with street art, independent cafés, and late-night energy.
- Southville – a family favourite with friendly schools, local parks, and the colourful North Street at its centre.
- Harbourside – waterside living with plenty of restaurants, galleries, and weekend events.
If you’re keen to do some research before the big day, check out Bristol City Council for practical info, or local forums like Bristol 24/7 to get a feel for what’s happening week to week.

Plan the practicals
Before you’re knee-deep in cardboard boxes, tick off these must-dos:
- Update your address with utilities, banks, GP, dentist, and schools.
- Decide whether you’ll use a moving company or go DIY (van hire and pizza bribes for mates are a time-honoured tradition).
- Declutter as you pack – sell, donate, or recycle anything you don’t really need in your new place.
And here’s a top tip: don’t feel like you have to bring everything with you on day one!

Why self storage can be a lifesaver
Our brand new blue self storage site in Bristol is here to take the stress out of moving. Whether you need a temporary spot for your boxes while you unpack or a longer-term home for seasonal gear (hello, paddleboards and Christmas decorations), we’ve got you covered.

- Flexible options – store for a few weeks or for as long as you need.
- Total peace of mind – 24/7 CCTV, on-site security, and gated access.
- Easy access – drop in whenever it suits you, day or night.
- Friendly team – we’re always around to lend a hand or answer questions.
Think of storage as your moving safety net: instead of cramming every last thing into your new home, you can move in gradually, stay organised, and actually enjoy your first few weeks in Bristol.
Make Bristol feel like home
Once the boxes are unpacked, it’s time to explore. Bristol is packed with community spirit, and the best way to settle in is to get involved. A few local gems to check out:
- St Nicholas Market – buzzing with food stalls and independent traders.
- Ashton Court Estate – perfect for weekend walks, bike rides, and the famous Balloon Fiesta views.
- Gloucester Road – Europe’s longest stretch of independent shops, full of hidden treasures.
- Local parks – Brandon Hill, Victoria Park, and Eastville Park are perfect for meeting neighbours (and tiring out the kids or dogs).
BONUS TIP! If you need some escapism from moving house, we highly recommend visiting The Last Bookshop on Park Street (the street featured in this photo). A treasure trove of brand new books, all for £5 or under! Plus art prints, rare books, collectables and loads of other cool stuff.
Keep an eye out for community events, art trails, and festivals; they’re a brilliant way to meet people and feel part of the city’s culture.
