On 2nd February 2024, we were proud to swap our usual blue for something a little different when we took part in Velindre Cancer Centre’s Wear Red for Velindre initiative.
Our team wore red and collected donations along with staff at Euro Commercials and tenants at The Maltings. We’re pleased to share that together, we raised a total of £521.72!
Velindre is on a mission to raise a total of £100,000 with their Wear Red initiative in 2024, and every single fundraising effort helps towards their target. The money raised will help support their vital work as the leading provider of radiotherapy and other specialised anti-cancer treatments in Wales.
Supported by Peter’s, Wales’ famous pastry and piemaker, the campaign wants to #PaintWalesRed – and they’re inviting everyone to get involved until the end of March!
About Velindre Cancer Centre
Fundraising and donations are critical to help improve the experience and outcomes for patients receiving care and support at Velindre Hospital. This includes funding projects that enhance the quality of care, providing access to cutting-edge treatments, supporting research for new treatment options, purchasing specialised equipment, and funding support services and resources.
It also helps to ensure that Velindre’s hospital staff have access to the most up-to-date training and techniques available.
And what they do is vital. In 2023 alone, Velindre:
- Received 5,989 new referrals
- Delivered 50,247 sessions of Radiotherapy
- Delivered 30,078 Chemotherapy sessions
- Delivered 131,368 outpatient appointments
So supporting them with fundraising initiatives is a brilliant way to help fund their work and help their patients in recovery. We loved taking part in ‘Wear Red’ – if you’re thinking about giving fundraising a go, we think you should definitely do it!
